During the launching, Ibrahim Sangcopan, SLP-Community Driven Enterprise Development Officer of DSWD-12, said the Sustainable Livelihood Program is implemented with the help of the local government unit of Tacurong City. ”This program aims to improve the livelihood of indigent residents…from merely surviving to being self-sufficient,” Sangcopan said. Of the 615 individual beneficiaries, about 300 of them belonged to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Under the program, Sancopan said, the beneficiaries will receive funds as initial capital to improve their small business. Sangcopan said under the program, a training will be conducted for 165 out of school youth and unemployed adults from different villages of the city. The free training includes Consumer Electronics, Massage Therapy, Hair Science & Beauty Culture; Home Care Products Making; T-Shirt Printing; Upgrading on Water Lily Bags & Novelty Items; Utilization of Indigenous Materials; Basic Novelty Production; and Motorcycle/Small Engine Servicing. Sangcopan said the training will start this month. ”We intend to have more SLP program in Tacurong City because of the support extended by the local government and the good results it produced in previous programs,” Sangcopan stressed. Tacurong City Mayor Lina O. Montilla lauded DSWD and its beneficiaries. ”I would like to congratulate the beneficiaries because of your cooperation.  If did not cooperate, we will no longer receive aid from DSWD.  So I hope you will continue to cooperate with the local government unit so government assistance will keep coming,” Montilla said.
