Under the funding assistance from Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) managed by the World Bank, the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development has been implementing a three-year project entitled "Community Enterprise Development as Pathway Out of Poverty" in six pilot municipalities namely: (1) Paracelis in Mountain Province, (2) Libon in Albay, (3) San Remigio in Antique, (4) La Paz in Agusan del Sur, and (5) Siayan and (6) Sindangan in Zamboanga del Norte. The project aims to improve the livelihood and quality of lives of poor households in the six municipalities through a community and market-driven, resource-based capacity building program. To be able to achieve this, the project participants should have increased income, accessed financial services and have developed community enterprises that are linked to markets with local economic support. The project is expected to promote the convergence agenda of the Department by building on the community organizing platforms of the Community Driven Development (CDD) approach as basis for linking communities to resources such as financial and other business development support/services.
