Malay, Aklan - Eight (8) organizations received livelihood assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) on October 16.
DSWD released a total of Php 7,921,340.00 continuing livelihood assistance to affected organizations of the Boracay Closure. The said organizations include the Boracay Land and Sea Port Boat Transport Association Inc. (Php 999,475.00) for Hog Raising project; Boracay Malay Sea and Land Haulers MPC (Php 937,480.00) for Rice-retail project; Caticlan-Boracay Motorboat MPC (Php 999,285.00) for Carwash with Component of Auto Repair Services and Catering Services; Caticlan Port Vendors Multi-Purpose Cooperative (Php 990,420.00) for Pasalubong Wholesaler and Retail project; Kalipunan ng Maliliit ng Magniniyog ng Napa-an MPC (Php 999,000.00) for Soft-broom Production and Marketing; Malay Boracay Vendors Association (Php 986,000.00) for Accessories Product Supply and Massage Services; Malay Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (Php 1,000,000.00) for the Rice Trading and Motorcycle Services with Component of Spare Parts; and MASBOI Sailboat MPC (Php 1,000,000.00) for Commodity Store project.
“Hindi tumigil ang DSWD sa pagtupad ng kaniyang pangako na ipagpatuloy ang pagtulong para sa iba’t ibang grupo na naapektuhan ng pagsasara ng Boracay” said Usec. Mark Allan Jay G. Yambao on his speech during the turnover ceremony.
“Ang tulong na ito ay sumasalamin sa adhikain na bigyan ng opportunidad ang bawat isa na maging progresibo at maging katuwang ng pamahalaan na pahalagahan na isulong ang mga programa nito kaugnay sa rehabilitasyon ng Boracay” Usec Yambao added.
Meanwhile, DSWD Field Office VI Assistant Regional Director for Operations, Delia V. Bagolcol, assures continuous assistance of the DSWD staff throughout the implementation of the projects.
