TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Nov. 23 (PIA) –- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is completing requirements needed for the early release of loan aid to beneficiaries under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in the province.
Target beneficiaries come from the Set-One group of municipalities of Lubuagan, Pasil, Tanudan, and Tinglayan.
According to 4Ps Project Officer Imelda Polig, every beneficiary family gets a maximum loan amount of P10,000 based on the project proposal submitted. Sh said DSWD will release the grant before the end of 2012.
The 4Ps, the government’s flagship program to address poverty and hunger among low-income Filipino families, grants start-up capital to open small enterprise like sari-sari store, hog production, vegetable farming, coffee production, weaving, and buy-and-sell business.
Loans granted to recipients are non-collateral and payable in two years without interest.
Recipients are first given training on basic enterprise management to assure sustainability of the livelihood projects funded from the loan, Polig explained.
DSWD urged families who earlier received the same aid to religiously pay their obligations so that fund for the program can be cycled out to other borrowers. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
